Joe Paterno Press Conference In Works, Son Says Father Will Not Step Down Amid Penn State Scandal

Penn State head coach Joe Paterno's son, Scott, refuted a New York times report that the school has begun conversations regarding Paterno's dismissal, and is setting up an off-campus press conference for Joe Paterno to address the media.

Scott Paterno told Fox 29 Philly that his father will be on the sidelines Saturday against Nebraska and will remain the Penn State coach for the foreseeable future. Paterno's son also said his father is "not stepping down" and will fight this one to the end, according to Ben Jones.

The New York Times reported that "two people briefed on conversations among the university's top officials" said Penn State has already decided Paterno will not return for another year, and had begun discussing the details of Paterno's departure.

Penn State cancelled Paterno's weekly press conference an hour before its schedule start, 12:20 p.m. ET on Tuesday amid scandal regarding the Jerry Sandusky investigation. Sandusky, a former Penn State defensive coordinator, allegedly sexually assaulted a young boy in the team's football locker room in 2002.
