TicketCity Bowl 2012: Bowl Sponsor Selling Penn State-Houston Tickets For Below Face Value

The Penn State Nittany Lions Lions and Houston Cougars will meet in the 2012 TicketCity Bowl at 12 p.m. on Jan 2. at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas. Good seats are still available.

And in an ironic twist, the Bowl sponsor -- TickeyCity, is peddling tickets for less than face value (via SB Nation's Andy Hutchins at the NCAA Football mothership.)

As pointed out by Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel on Twitter, the TicketCity Bowl is selling tickets from its official bowl website to the game, featuring Penn State taking on one-loss Houston at the Cotton Bowl, for $25, $50, $75, and $125. But check out TicketCity's listings for the TicketCity Bowl, and things get significantly cheaper: there are a few of the cheapest $25 tickets for a few dollars off, but many more of the more expensive ones are more deeply discounted below face value, like a $75 "premium" ticket going for just $31.

There's nothing inherently wrong or bad about this. TicketCity is just doing its job. But it's OK to laugh a little at the company sponsor undercutting itself on the secondary market.
