The Penn State Nittany Lions trail the Houston Cougars 17-0 after the first quarter of play in the Ticket City Bowl at The Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas.
The Nittany Lions were down 7-0 before they got the ball on offense. The Houston Cougars took the opening drive 76 yards in 7 plays. The finishing touch on the drive was a 40-yard Case Keenum touchdown pass to Patrick Edwards on 3rd and 13.
Penn State went three and out on their first drive. Houston responded with a field goal drive.The Nittany Lions went three and out on their next two drives. Houston's first punt was sandwiched between those drives.
Houston got their third score, another touchdown pass, with 2:35 left to play in the quarter. The Cougars called a single run play (a 9-yard gain) and have 227 yards through the air as they have absolutely shredded Penn State's secondary. Penn State has 22 yards of offense and have gone three and out on all four drives.
