The Penn State Nittany Lions were defeated 30-14 by the Houston Cougars in the 2012 Ticket City Bowl at The Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas.
Houston got out to a 17-0 lead after the first quarter. Penn State got a touchdown on the board in the second quarter before the Cougars scored 10 more consecutive points between the second and third quarters. Rob Bolden completed a 69-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 27-14 in the fourth quarter. Houston responded with their third field goal.
Houston's Case Keenum was unstoppable in the passing game. He shredded one of the country's highest ranked pass defenses for 532 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his passing touchdowns went for 40+ yards. The Penn State's quarterback struggled mightily beyond the long touchdown pass. Rob Bolden was just 7/26 for 137 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions.
Penn State finishes the 2011 season at 9-4, Houston went 13-1.
