The Oregon Ducks have moved to the top of the USA Today Coaches' Poll for the first time this season after the Alabama Crimson Tide dropped their first game of the season on Saturday. The No. 1 Ducks earned 44 of 59 first place votes after remaining undefeated with a 59-17 rout of Cal.

Alabama fell to No. 5 after being beaten, 29-24, by the Taxas A&M Aggies – who moved up to No. 10 with the upset. The No. 2 Kansas St. Wildcats, No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs round out the rest of the top five. The second-ranked Wildcats received 14 first place votes while Notre Dame received one.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers, who beat the Penn St. Nittany Lions 32-23, moved up two spots to No. 14.
