Penn State Football Recruiting: Nittany Lions Pretty Much Set For 2012

The list of potential star recruits faxing their letters of intent to the Penn State Nittany Lions on National Signing Day was long at one point. The likes of DE Noah Spence, DT Tommy Schutt, OL Joey O'Connor, LBs David Perkins and Camren Williams and DB Armani Reeves were all headed to Happy Valley before flipping their pledges, almost simultaneously, to the Ohio State Buckeyes. The backlash from the Jerry Sandusky scandal was harsh, leaving the Nittany Lions with a less stellar class than they initially hoped.

With head coach Bill O'Brien more concerned with winning a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots than securing high school prospects at the moment, there doesn't appear to be much of an upshot for Penn State. Wide receiver Eugene Lewis is currently the only Penn State pledge to be designated a four-star by both Rivals.com and Scout.com.

With 19 commitments set to fax their LOI barring any unforeseen changes, Penn State are essentially set with their class. Unless a new name pops up on their radar at the last minute, the Nittany Lions will likely bank their remaining scholarship for next season.
