Eugene Lewis Commits To Penn State On National Signing Day 2012

The Nittany Lions received some very good news on Wednesday morning.

Eugene Lewis, a consensus 4-Star recruit, has committed to Penn State on National Signing Day 2012. Lewis, who played for Wyoming Valley West High School, chose Penn State over Oregon and West Virginia, the two other finalists for his services.

Lewis helps to solidify Bill O'Brien's first recruiting class which has been in constant flux. O'Brien has to be thrilled to add the 6'2'' 180 pound wide receiver.

The Nittany Lions struggled offensively against elite opponents in 2011 but Lewis should help to fix that problem.

It's also a good sign that Penn State was able to secure a in-state athlete. After losing out on Demetrious Cox earlier on National Signing Day, this was important to re-establish credibility within Pennsylvania amidst all the turmoil.

While the incoming class isn't overwhelming, it's certainly a solid one by any measure considering the circumstances. The Nittany Lions faithful just got a nice boost on National Signing Day.
