The No. 3 seed Delaware Blue Hens defeated the No. 14 seed Arkansas Little Rock Lady Trojans, 73-42, in the First Round of the 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament on Sunday at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, Ark. in the Des Moines Regional.
Delaware was never threatened in this game. The Blue Hens took an 8-6 lead with 15:14 left in the first half and never looked back. Delaware had a 32-22 lead at the half and kept rolling in the second half. The Blue Hens were on fire from behind the arc and hit 7-12 three-point attempts. Arkansas Little Rock was held to 30.8% shooting and only made two of their 12 three-point attempts.
Delaware was led by 39 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks from Elena Delle Donne. Lauren Carra chipped in 12 points for Delaware. Arkansas Little Rock was paced by 12 points from Marian Kursh.
Delaware will advance to the Second Round on March 20 and will play the winner of the (6) Nebraska-Kansas (11) matchup.
