The Penn State Lady Lions trail the UConn Huskies, 43-29, after the first half in the Sweet 16 of the 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament from the Ryan Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
UConn looked to be running away with this game through the first eight or so minutes when they built a 20-8 lead. The Lady Lions responded with a 13-4 run to get back into the game. Despite not shooting well in the first half, Penn State was able to keep the game close until the final few minutes of the half by using their advantage in free throw attempts. Penn State made 7-9 in the first half while UConn was 2-2 before hitting two late free throws to get to 4-4. The Huskies used another run to close out the first half with a double-digit lead.
The Lady Lions were led by 9 points apiece by Alex Bentley and Mia Nickson in the first half. UConn was led by Bria Hartley with 11 points in the first half.
