The 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament is down to its last two teams: Baylor and Notre Dame. These two teams which are both No. 1 seeds met in the Preseason NIT with Baylor winning, 94-81. The Irish are the only team left which can prevent Baylor from becoming the first NCAA team to win 40 games in a season.
During its undefeated run to the title game, Baylor knocked out UC Santa Barbara, Florida, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Stanford in the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Bears are 39-0 on the season and are led by junior forward Brittney Griner (23.2 points per game, 9.4 rebounds per game, 5.2 blocks per game)
Notre Dame lost only three times this season, once to Baylor, once to West Virginia and once to UConn (Big East Championship Game). The Irish took out Liberty, California, St. Bonaventure and Maryland in the NCAA Tournament before getting revenge against UConn in the Final Four. Notre Dame is led by junior guard Skylar Diggins (16.8 points per game, 5.8 assists per game).
