Sixers Trade Season Tickets For Mascot Twitter Accounts

When the Sixers announced that they would be holding a vote for their new mascot they forgot one thing. To go get the twitter accounts of the nominees. So instead, an enterprising Sixers fan grabbed the accounts of Big Ben, Phil E. Moose & B. Franklin Dogg, which are the kind of awful nominees for the next Sixers mascot.

They then started tweeting out campaigns for votes. Pretty nice right?

Well, the Sixers contacted them asking that they turn over the twitter accounts before the team got lawyers involved. At first, the young SIxers fans (Jerry Rizzo and Hunter Coleman) planned to just ignore the request. However, they changed their minds after the Sixers apparently offered them box seats to the home opener and free season tickets.

Pretty cool by the Sixers I'd say. All too often you hear of teams and brands of any kind essentially punishing their own fans for supporting them in various ways. What these kids were doing is something that ay team should have been overjoyed at. So it's great to the Sixers award fans for innovation and support rather than sending them cease and desist letters and lawsuits.
