The Sixers have focused their free agent efforts so far on retaining their own players and haven't signed anyone away from another team. Until now! The Boston Herald is reporting that the Sixers have signed Ayla Brown to be their anthem singer for this season. Brown is a former American Idol contestant and the daughter of senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts.
↵She's from the Boston area, played basketball for Boston College and has sung the national anthem previously for the Boston Celtics. So, take that Celtics!
↵It seems to be another part of this overall plan the Sixers have to make the gameday experience more fun. They've also hired a "famous" broadway company to revamp their lighting systems. The anthem signing will reportedly be done to a new backing track recorded by the Philadelphia Orchestra.
↵Here's an example of Ayla signing the anthem with the Boston Pops.
