Sixers Drop Season Opener To Blazers 107-103

The Sixers dropped their opener in a late night, west coast affair in Portland

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Gerald Wallace added 21 points and nine boards as the Portland Trail Blazers held on for a 107-103 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, in the season opener for both teams.

Wesley Matthews had 16 points and six rebounds for Portland, which lost in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs for the third consecutive year last season.

Lou Williams netted 25 points off the bench and Andre Igoudala finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for the 76ers, who fell to the Miami Heat in five games in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs last year.

Spencer Hawes was one assist shy of a triple-double. He finished the game with 10 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists.

The 76ers, who averaged just 13 turnovers a game a year ago, finished with 20 giveaways.
