With the Philadelphia are in the midst of what feels like a monsoon, the Phillies have decided to postpone tonight’s game against the Marlins. The game has been rescheduled for June 15 as part of a day/night doubleheader. Hang on to your tickets, because they will be honored for the makeup game.
This means Cole Hamels start will be pushed back to tomorrow. The Phillies could skip #5 starter Joe Blanton, but according to the teams’ website they are likely to pitch Blanton Monday and give the rest of the staff an extra days rest.
That means Roy Oswalt, who left last night’s game with a back strain, will get a much needed extra day. He wasn’t expected to miss a start, but another day off certainly can’t hurt. Oswalt told Phillies.com that the strain was not related to some of the back problems he’s had in his career.
“This is totally different,” Oswalt said. “This is nothing like that. This is middle back. It’s not really lower back. Most of the time when I have trouble with it, it’s lower back. This is middle. I felt like I could have maybe gotten through the seventh, but I didn’t want to go out there, get in trouble and then have to bring somebody in to clean up the mess.”
