Sixers Radio Moves To 97.5 The Fanatic

In a surprising move, the Sixers announced that they've reached a new multi year deal with 97.5 The Fanatic as their new official radio home. Starting with the 2012 playoffs, all Sixers games will now be heard there. And yes, Tom McGinnis will continue as the play by play man.

While I don't know exactly how long the games have been on WIP, they've been the Sixers' radio home for as long as I can remember. So this is certainly a big get for 97.5, who previously didn't have any rights for any of the major local teams.

It's also a great move for the Sixers, who now get top billing on 97.5. WIP has long carried both Sixers and Flyers games and in recent years would often push the Sixers off to another signal if there was a conflict. So now the Sixers will get every single game aired on FM with a full pregame and post game show.

All told, it's a pretty good move for all those involved.
