Doug Collins is, often times, an over-bearing head coach with a lot of passion for the game, and Evan Turner is an emotional player who comes off as sensitive at times. It's no surprise the two seemingly clashed throughout the season. Turner was asked about his relationship with Collins after Friday's Playoff win:
"I don't think it was as bad as people thought," he said. "It's not like we were beating each other up or not talking to each other."
Henry Abbott from ESPN's TrueHoop has a nice piece on Turner and Collins, which includes this quote:
"The last two plays, he ran the play for me," said Turner. "As a player, that's the big thing, that you can show me you have confidence in me. Thankfully he did that. ... It was pretty cool. He had confidence in me to give me the ball in crucial parts of the game."
Whatever's going on with Turner and Collins during these NBA Playoffs, both parties, as well as Sixers fans have to hope it continues, for Evan Turner's sake.
