The Philadelphia 76ers worked out Illinois big man Meyers Leonard (7-1, 250) on Tuesday. Leonard might or might not be available for the Sixers with the No. 15 pick in Thursday's NBA Draft. However, working out Leonard fits in with the recent statements from general manager Rod Thorn about looking for an athletic center.
Thorn said about the workout, "We had a good workout today. Meyers Leonard is definitely a guy that is in our mix." However, Thorn also ruled out the possibility of the Sixers moving up to take Leonard or another big. "I don't see us moving up. I think we're content to be about where we are - right now." Leonard led the Big Ten with 1.9 blocks per game last season and averaged 8.2 rebounds per game (third in Big Ten). Leonard scored 13.6 points per game but is admittedly still raw on offense.
