The Philadelphia 76ers were defeated by the Orlando Magic, 77-75, in double overtime on Thursday at Amway Center in Summer League play.
The Magic had the better of the Sixers in this game through the first three quarters. Philadelphia trailed by eight going into the fourth quarter and used a 17-9 quarter to push the game into overtime. Lavoy Allen tied the game tied the game at 68 with one second left in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia had a chance to win the game in regulation but their shot with 0.7 left fell short.
Once the overtime frame began, Jon Scheyer was determined to make up for the hurried shot he couldn't make at the end of regulation. His second three-pointer of the game put the Sixers up by five more than midway through overtime. The Magic were able to tie the game at 73 with just under a minute to go. In the second overtime, the Sixers couldn't get their shots to fall and the Magic were able to get the win despite only scoring two points in the period.
Clay Tucker led the Sixers with 15 points. Justin Holiday chipped in 10 points. Devin Searcy had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jacob Pullen returned to action after missing the last game for Philadelphia with an ankle injury but was ineffective, shooting just 1-8 from the floor in 16 minutes. Moe Harkless sat again with a hip injury. Justin Harper led the Magic with 18 points. Three other players scored in double figures for Orlando.
The Sixers (1-3) will play the the Detroit Pistons (3-1) in their next game on Friday at Noon.
