The Philadelphia 76ers have a new general manager candidate in former Portland Trail Blazers front office executive Tom Penn. Penn has reportedly met with Philadelphia managing partner Joshua Harris in Las Vegas and interviewed the Sixers job (via Ken Berger).
Penn worked for the Trail Blazers as Vice President of Basketball Operations and Assistant General Manager from 2007-2010. Penn currently works with ESPN as an NBA analyst. Before working with the Trail Blazers he was an assistant general manager and legal counsel for the Memphis Grizzlies from 2000-2007. Penn had previously been linked to the Orlando Magic general manager job this offseason. The Magic general manager job ultimately went to Rob Hennigan.
The Sixers previously offered the general manager job to Danny Ferry in June but he ended up taking the Atlanta Hawks open general manager position instead.
