Oh how the mighty have fallen. Last week I was bragging in this very space about how I only got two of fourteen Week 6 NFL picks wrong. My hot streak would never end! Until it did. Last week, I whiffed on four of my "six best bets." Of course, I doubt I was alone. Who saw the Browns beating the Saints or the Raiders destroying the Broncos in Denver? I'm going to claim unforeseen circumstances here. It must have been some sort of act of god that allowed the Browns to dethrone the Super Bowl Champs.
↵Okay, now that I'm off the hook and have your full trust back, I offer my Week 8 NFL best bets. This is a tough week with a lot of games between two pretty good or two pretty bad teams. Very few "gimme" games this week. In fact, I only see one.
↵Chiefs over Bills - Kansas City is a really improved team and has been almost unstoppable at home. In fact they've scored 93 points in three home games. No chance the winless Bills can keep up with that.
↵Cowboys over Jaguars - These are two teams that are a mess right now, which makes this an dangerous game, but I think Dallas wins this game at home. The Dallas defense forced Eli Manning and the Giants offense into five turnovers and they could very well do the same to Todd Bouman and the hapless Jaguars offense. Difference is, the Jaguars aren't good enough to overcome it.
↵Patriots over Vikings - Whether Favre is ready to go or not, I don't see this Vikings team as being ready to go on the road and beat the Patriots. If this were in Minnesota I might have some pause... but I think the Pats could really run away with this one in Foxboro.
