It’s been an historic first half in the nation’s capital. The Eagles have set a franchise records for points in a quarter and a half. When they concluded the first quarter up 28-0, it was the largest lead a road team had ever had after the first quarter in NFL history. Michael Vick also passed Steve Young for 2nd on all the time rushing list for quarterbacks.
Let’s just look at a few stats. The Eagles have 425 yards of offense. Michael Vick himself has accounted for five touchdowns. His QB rating for the first half is a perfect 158.3. The only TD that wasn’t his doing was a spectacular 50 yard run from Jerome Harrison.
The Redskins did make an attempt to make it a game scoring two straight TDs after the Eagles went up 35-0, but the Eagles responded with 13 unanswered points to close out the half. Donovan McNabb has thrown two touchdowns, but also has two picks both to Dimitri Patterson who is starting his second game.
It’s a monday night massacre and at this point the only question seems to be how bad is it going to get?
