ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is the favorite for the Cleveland Browns coaching job. Shurmur's candidacy stems from his time with the Eagles, where he served as QB coach under Andy Reid. Current Browns' GM Tom Heckert was also in Philadelphia when Shurmur was here, plus Mike Holmgren is running things in Cleveland so it stands to reason to that he would look to a Reid protege to run his own team. Of course, Andy Reid was a Mike Holmgren protege.
↵With Heckert, Shurmur and a few ex Eagles players... the Browns are clearly trying to copy the Philadelphia model. Should Shurmur get the Browns job, he would be the fifth ex Andy Reid assistant to get a head coaching job. The others were Brad Childress with the Vikings, Leslie Frazier now of the Vikings, Steve Spagnuolo with the Rams, and John Harbaugh with the Ravens.
