The Denver Broncos have hired former Saints secondary coach Dennis Allen as their new defensive coordinator. Allen had interviewed for the same job over the weekend with the Eagles, but left town without a deal. Allen was one of only two candidates that the Eagles confirmed and as far as we know the only one to have a formal interview so far. The only other candidate was secondary coach Dick Jauron, but he seemed to be a fallback plan all along and has since left to run the Cleveland Browns defense.
So that leaves the Eagles at this point with no publicly known candidates or scheduled interviews for their open defensive coordinator position. That certainly doesn't mean there aren't any, simply that we don't who they are. It's likely we'll see some interviews scheduled this week with assistants from the teams just eliminated from the playoffs. Both the Bears and Jets had fantastic defenses this past year so it stands to reason the Eagles could have interest in a few of their coaches.
Our own Tommy Lawlor did a writeup of his thoughts on the coaching situation, including some still available candidates over the weekend.
