Eagles Let Go Another Defensive Assistant, LB Coach Bill Shuey

Already this offseason the Eagles have fired defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and defensive line coach Rory Segrest while letting secondary coach Dick Jauron leave to the Cleveland Browns. The only coaches left on the defense from last season are quality control coaches and ex-Eagles Mike Zordich and Mike Caldwell. Basically, it's been a complete and total housecleaning on the defensive side of the ball. After two years of decline and a heavy investment in the defense in this past year's draft with little to show for it, clearly Andy Reid felt like enough was enough.

The Eagles defense gave up a franchise record 31 TD passes this past season while recording the worst red zone percentage of any team in over 20 years. The question now is who will the team bring in to fix the mess? The hiring of superb defensive line coach Jim Washburn was a start, but we still have no candidate who will lead the defense.
