The NFL has released the list of candidates for the class of 2011 eligible for the pro football hall of fame. The football hall of fame selection process is always so much simpler and less contentious than the sometimes ridiculous process it takes for someone to get into the baseball hall of fame. This year guys like Deion Sanders, Jerome Bettis & Marshall Faulk are all eligible for the first time. Sanders is probably a lock. Here is the full list.
↵There are two former Eagles eligible. First is Chris Carter, who began his career in Philadelphia but was cut by Buddy Ryan who famously said "All he does is catch touchdowns." That said, Carter also had off the field issues early in his career that led to his exit. He has since credited that fact Buddy cut him as the reason he was able to turn his life and career around. Carter went on to make 8 straight pro bowls with the Minnesota Vikings.
↵Opposite to Carter is Richard Dent who finished his year in Philadelphia. He had a great career with the Chicago Bears, then bounced around the leauge for a couple years finishing up his career in 1997 with the Eagles.
