During the lengthy lead up to the 2011 NFL Draft, we saw dozens upon dozens (if not hundreds) of mock drafts filed by pundits and fans alike. Many pegged a cornerback to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 23. Colorado’s Jimmy Smith was name that was thrown around as a potential good fit for the Eagles. Well, with the 17th pick just announced, Nebraska’s Prince Amukamara is still on the board. For all the surprises that there have been so far in this year’s first round, the biggest in my opinion might be that Amukamara is still on the board. Should the Philadelphia Eagles consider trading up to land a prospect that most believed was the second best CB in this year’s draft behind only Patrick Peterson? They wouldn’t have to give up too much at this point to move up to No. 18, so you have to believe that it’s at least being discussed by the Eagles front office in the war room right now.
All very interesting! And we’re only just getting started. With the Eagles’ selection at No. 23 just around the corner, stay tuned here and at Bleeding Green Nation for more updates and reactions as the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft continues to unfold from New York City.
