Michael Vick has been joined by a number of teammates in Marlton, New Jersey this week for some informal workouts while the players continue to be locked out. Normally, NFL teams would have been holding OTAs at this point in the offseason to help players get prepared, but that can't happen while the labor dispute rages on.
So while, it's hard to say whether there's any real value in these informal workouts, you certainly can't say they're a bad thing. At the very least, the players in attendance are developing some camaraderie. Players have come in and out of the workouts, and a lot of it has just been conditioning stuff with the guys from Power Train in Cherry Hill, who have been working with a lot of Eagles this offseason.
Among the guys who have been there this week are Michael Vick, Brent Celek, Jason Avant, Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper, Sinorice Moss, Mike Kafka, Todd Herremans, Jamaal Jackson, Austin Howard, Jon Dorenbos, and Juqua Parker. In addition, RB Albert Young from the Vikings, who is from Moorestown, has been present as well.
Vick says that while he's in charge of the workouts, several teammates have been helpful in getting guys in.
"Well I'm in charge. We also have some other guys like Brent Celek, who has played a tremendous part and Jeremy Maclin and some other guys in getting all of the guys in." said Vick, "I got some more guys coming in this weekend. We should have some more good sessions."
"The one thing that we do know is that we're professional athletes and we can't sit around and not do anything," Vick told 6ABC. "The speed of this game, the toughness that you have to have and bring in to each and every week has to start from somewhere."
