Redskins Sign Former Eagles Punter Sav Rocca

The Redskins have done the majority of their free agent shopping so far in the NFC East and continued to look within the division in their search for a punter. They’ve reportedly agreed to terms with former Eagles punter Sav Rocca.

The 37 year old has only been in the league for years after a career as an Australian rules football player. He’s always had a pretty big leg, but has struggled with inconsistency in his career with the Eagles. His directional punting has improved over the past few years, but he still has a propensity for the occasional, inexplicable shank.. But overall Sav has been a solid, serviceable punter for the Eagles.

Not the best punter in the leauge, but not the worst either. Good to see him continue his NFL career. As for the Eagles, it appears as though they will move on with rookie Chas Henry as their punter. Henry won the 2010 Ray Guy award, given to the nation’s top punter. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them bring in another leg for competition in camp however.
