NFL Cuts 2011: Eagles Release Four Players

The Eagles announced today that they've released four players, but need to cut one more to get the roster to the 80 man limit by tomorrow

The Eagles announced today that they've released four players; WR Gerald Jones, TE Martell Webb, T Spencer Johnson and DB Jamar Wall. Late last week they had let go RB Derrick Locke, LB Brandon Peguese, WR Terrance Turner and DT Marlon Favorite, who also happens to own the greatest preseason highlight ever.

All teams have until tomorrow to trim their roster to 80 players and after today's cuts the Eagles roster currently sits at 81. So one more player will have to go before the end of the day.

The Eagles are not at the point yet where they need to make any tough decisions as far as the roster goes, however some other teams have. The Dallas Cowboys today announced the release of five time pro bowl C Andre Gurode. That means they will likely go with second year undrafted player Phil Costa, who also happens to be a local Philly area guy who grew up in Pennsauken and went to Holy Cross high school. The Chicago Bears also made some notable cuts releasing Vernon Gholston and RB Chester Taylor. [Note by JasonB, 08/29/11 2:16 PM EDT ] Maybe not Chester Taylor?

The Eagles will play one more preseason game with the 80 man roster and then will need to cut down to 53 by this Saturday.
