Eagles 24, Jets 14: Dion Lewis Stands Out In Preseason Finale

The Eagles wrapped up their preseason with a 24-14 win over the New York Jets at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. In a game that featured virtually no starters for either team, rookie Dion Lewis was the Eagles offensive standout. The RB from Pitt ran for 62 yards on 15 carries and a TD. He also caught 3 passes for 38 yards and opened up the game with a nice kickoff return. Another rookie, Danny Watkins, who was one of the few starters to play in this game, praised Lewis after the game.

“When you give a guy who has that much talent, a hole and an opportunity to run, you know he’s going to do good things. The offensive line, we were clicking in the run game and it’s good to see he was able to get through those holes like that.”

The only real notable piece of news from the game was the injury to Vince Young. The QB pulled up on a fourth down run and had to limp off the field. He would not return to the game with what was later called a hamstring injury. After the game he told reporters that he didn’t think it was anything major.

“I really feel OK. I feel pretty good. I just felt my hamstring pull a little bit. I dont feel it’s major.”
