Fantasy Football Start Em Sit Em: Eagles Vs Giants

The Eagles host the Giants in their home opener this afternoon in a game with major fantasy implications. First and foremost, start Michael Vick! The Eagles QB has passed his concussion tests, he will play today and should make for an excellent matchup against a very suspect Giants secondary. Vick has played six career games against the Giants and has accounted for nine TDs in those games. Five through the air and four on the ground.

DeSean Jackson is also a definite start with several big games in his career against the Giants. He's score four TDs in six career games and every one has come from greater than 30 yards out. One guy who could be a possible sit is RB LeSean McCoy, who has been off to a red hot start to the 2011 season. He's rushed for just 71 yards a game against the Giants and has two TDs in four contests. That said, we all know what kind of start McCoy has been off to, so you may be overthinking things to play matchups here.

Continuing with the "start every Eagle" theme here, Jeremy Maclin has three TDs in four career games against the G-men. It's really hard to understate how well the Eagles offense has played against the Giants in recent years and their corps of WRs really make for a tough matchup against a beat up and undermanned Giants secondary.

One more note about the Eagles defense/special teams. Obviously we know that DeSean Jackson returned the "walk off" punt to win the game last year, but Asante Samuel has also racked up fantasy points for the D/ST as well. He has four picks in 8 games against the Giants. Eagles DE Trent Cole has played the Giants 14 times and registered 7 sacks, 75 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 INT, and 1 TD.
