Eagles vs. Lions: Michael Vick focused on ball security

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been miserable at holding on to the football this year, but he's been working on it at practice, he said this week.

Michael Vick hasn't taken care of the ball very well so far in 2012. Through five games, Vick has thrown six interceptions and has fumbled eight times. Despite the Eagles' 3-2 record, Vick's issues with ball security are raising a lot of red flags around the Eagles, and something has to change.

This week, Vick told reporters he was focusing more on holding onto the pigskin. Here's what the boys at Bleeding Green Nation got from attending practice:

"I've taken tips from some of the running backs who carry the football. I love football so much and with all the football I've watched - this entire week I've watched guys carry the football - and everybody has it high and tight. Even quarterbacks that I've watched. It's something that I definitely need to do. There's a comfort level that I've been able to develop when holding the football."

Jason Brewer also wrote that Vick has been holding a football all week, even during meals and meetings. "Everyone thought it was funny, but I didn't," Vick told reporters. The Eagles take on the Lions this week and Vick will have to stand in against one of the more potent pass-rushing teams in the league.
