NFL odds Week 8: Falcons vs. Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are slight favorites as they come off a bye week, never having lost under Andy Reid in post-bye games. On the other hand, the Atlanta Falcons are undefeated thus far this season.

The Atlanta Falcons might be undefeated, but the Philadelphia Eagles are actually the slight favorites in their game Sunday.

The Eagles opened as 2.5-point favorites, but the line has shifted in the Falcons' favor, as Atlanta is now listed as the underdog by between 1- and 1.5 points.

The Eagles are 13-0 under head coach Andy Reid when coming off a bye week, but the league's last unbeaten team is also coming off a bye. Add to that the fact that Philadelphia is trying to replace a defensive coordinator after last week's firing of Juan Castillo and a budding quarterback controversy as Michael Vick struggles with turning the ball over, and Reid's tremendous streak looks like it might be in trouble.

Although one team is the league's best thus far and the other is .500, both teams have had a habit of keeping games close. In their last three games, Atlanta won games against lowly Carolina and Oakland squads by two and three points, respectively, while five of Philadelphia's six games and all three of their wins have been decided by three points or less.
