Could Jon Gruden replace Andy Reid?

Will Andy Reid finish the season as head coach in Philadelphia? And would Jon Gruden return to coach the Eagles?

Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

The Philadelphia Eagles have lost four games in a row, and many are calling for the ousting of head coach Andy Reid. Paul Domowitch of the Daily News wants to know if Jon Gruden might leave his cushy broadcasting job at ESPN to rejoin the NFL.

Is Chucky really ready to say goodbye to the good life of the broadcast booth and get back into the 18-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week meat grinder that is NFL coaching? Or is he just looking to get his ego massaged?

Gruden won a Super Bowl in his first season as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but had a mixed career with them after that. For Domowitch, here's the problem with Gruden:

Talent evaluation isn't Gruden's strong suit. Coaching and motivating players is. If you're an owner, you wouldn't want to bring him in and make him king. And Jaworski said Gruden wouldn't necessarily want to be king. All he would want is a general manager who's on the same page as he is.
