Darren Sproles injury: Saints RB out after surgery

The Philadelphia Eagles are desperate for a win this week, and getting one might be a little easier as the New Orleas Saints will be without one of their top weapons.

New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles will miss Monday night's game with the Philadelphia Eagles. Sproles underwent surgery on his right hand this week, according to Bleeding Green Nation.

Sproles is one of the top producers on the Saints' offense. He has rushed the ball 26 times for 117 yards, while catching 39 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns. He is second on the team in touches, yards, and touchdowns.

Offense won't be the only area where New Orleans will feel the loss of Sproles, as he is always a threat in the return game. For his career, Sproles has three punt return and two kickoff return touchdowns.

Philadelphia needs a win at New Orleans to keep up in the NFC playoff race. The Eagles are 3-4 after three straight losses. New Orleans has struggled this season, especially on defense, and started 0-4. The Saints have since rebounded with two wins in their last three games, and they will be favored on Monday night.
