NFL schedule 2012: Eagles finish up against Giants

The Eagles close their season at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants.

Andy Lyons

The 2012 NFL season is about to come to a close, and the Philadelphia Eagles' game will have a potential role in who makes the playoffs.

While the AFC playoff spots are all sewn up, the NFC has multiple spots still available.

If the Giants beat the Eagles, they need to hope for the Chicago Bears to lose at the Detroit Lions, the Green Bay Packers to beat the Minnesota Vikings at Mall of America Field, and the Washington Redskins to win against the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaking of Washington and Dallas, the winner will take the NFC East crown, while the loser faces a devastating reality. Dallas would be out of the playoffs regardless, while the Redskins could make it as a Wild Card depending on how other games end.

Chicago makes the playoffs with a win and a Dallas loss, while Minnesota needs to beat Green Bay to earn the No. 6 seed.
