Philadelphia Eagles Free Agency Rumors: Birds Interested In LaRon Landry?

LaRon Landry & Dan Connor are a few of the names the Eagles have rumored to be interested in.

While the consensus #1 hole on the Eagles is linebacker, the team was plagued by inconsistent safety play all season. Some of that was to do with the health of Nate Allen, some blamed on the inexperience of Jaiquwan Jarrett and of course Kurt Coleman having his struggles. According to a report from Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, they may look outside of the organization to fix the spot.

Cole is reporting that the team is showing interest in Redskins free agent safety LaRon Landry. Washington took him with the 6th overall pick in the 2007 draft and generally he's failed to live up to that top 10 billing. He's had trouble staying healthy and has proved to be a liability in coverage at times. He is, however, a big hitter and an asset in run support.

Dan Pompeii is reporting that Landry will move on from the Redskins and that it's likely that teams will look to sign him to a shorter term deal to see if he can stay healthy.

It was a mutual decision between LaRon Landry and the Redskins to divorce. Landry will be leaving as a free agent. The Redskins made a decision to move on from the gifted safety in part because Landry has not stayed healthy. He still is recovering from an Achilles injury that landed him on injured reserve. Landry did not have surgery on the injury as the team advised him to do. Landry, meanwhile, is looking for a fresh start in a new environment. It is likely he will sign a short term deal.

According to Cole, the Jets and Bears have shown interest as well.
