ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Eagles free agent LG Evan Mathis is drawing interesting from the Colts and Redskins. There are no reports of a schedule visit or even a contract offer, but it would appear that the market for Mathis is starting to heat up.
He was previously connected to the Buccaneers as well, but after they landed Carl Nicks, that talked died down.
The 31 year old Mathis is coming off a fantastic year in which he and Jason Peters formed arguably the best left side in the NFL. It was only Mathis’ first year as a starter after spending several years with the Bengals as a backup/fill in guy.
The Colts will obviously be looking for as much protection for Andrew Luck as they can find and the Redskins can use help anywhere on their offensive line they can find it. Like the Colts, they’ll be looking to protect their prized rookie QB, presumed to be Robert Griffin III.
The Eagles are also still reportedly interested in bringing Mathis back.
