Jason Peters Injury Update: Eagles' All-Pro Tackle Ruptures Achilles Tendon

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters ruptured the Achilles tendon in his right leg earlier this week and is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, April 2, the team announced on Friday.

Peters is expected to miss between 9-12 months as a result of the injury, a harsh blow to the Eagles offensive line which will now almost certainly go through the entire 2012 season without its anchor. The 6-foot-4, 340-pound Peters has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last five seasons and was named All-Pro in four of those five (with 2009 being the one year since 2007 he wasn't named All-Pro).

The Eagles agreed to terms earlier Friday with offensive lineman King Dunlap, likely because Peters' injury opened a void in the lineup.
