Mel Kiper Final Mock Draft 2012: Fletcher Cox Selected For Philadelphia Eagles After Trade

In Mel Kiper's final 2012 NFL Mock Draft, the ESPN analyst projects that the Philadelphia Eagles will trade up to the No. 7 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to select Fletcher Cox, a defensive tackle from Mississippi State.

The Eagles have long been rumored to covet Cox, a 6-foot-4, 290-pounder. Kiper, who doesn't normally include trades in his mock drafts, writes that a deal would make sense.

There you go. I broke one of my own rules. Ah, but let's have some fun. In this scenario, the Eagles move up to get a defensive tackle they covet, and Jacksonville gets to move down because they can't maximize value for a top need here. Cox has a chance to become a Pro Bowl player regardless of where you line him up inside. The Eagles simply have to become stronger against the run, and up the middle in general, and Cox provides an impact.
