The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday that they had signed first-round pick Fletcher Cox, a defensive tackle from Mississippi State.
During a conference call, Cox talked about his mindset now that his contract is done:
"First off, I want to thank [head] coach [Andy] Reid, [owner Jeffrey] Lurie and [general manager] Howie Roseman. My mindset is going in and just doing what I'm coached to do, what [defensive line] coach [Jim] Washburn wants me to do, and that's play hard and be relentless."
Cox believes he can compete for an immediate role on defense, saying "That's basically what football is all about, competing, and I'm always up for competition."
On his biggest progression from rookie mini-camp, Cox said that he has improved getting off the ball and being familiar with his defensive teammates during practice.
