2012 Free Agency: O.J. Atogwe Deal With Eagles Still Not Official

Oshiomogho Atogwe might very well be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles very soon. He just isn't one yet.

According to a philly.com piece, Atogwe hasn't quite come to terms with Philadelphia on a deal that would put him in green and white next year.

If and when Atogwe does officially sign, he'll provide legitimate competition to a group of talented but unproven safeties. Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman are the incumbent starters, with Jaiquawn Jarrett also in the mix following a disappointing season.

Atogwe, 31, has played most of his career with the St. Louis Rams and was a semi-star there before joining the Washington Redskins for a forgettable year in the nation's capital.

The Eagles have been making overtures at other veteran safeties, so this move is no surprise. Atogwe isn't a household name, but at least he's good depth on a team that is somewhat thin in the area.
