While most of the attention regarding salary caps for teams in the NFC East has revolved around the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys, one team has quietly amassed a fair amount of cap room of their own--the Philadelphia Eagles.
Pro Football Talk recently compiled a list of cap space for each team in the NFL, and the Eagles currently rank third at 18.02 million dollars. The only teams ahead of them are the Jacksonville Jaguars (25.1 million) and the Tennessee Titans (19.97 million). The Redskins and Cowboys, who made headlines earlier in the offseason after being assessed cap penalties, sit at 6.97 and 7.18 million dollars of space, respectively. The Giants are ranked 27th with just 3.11 million dollars remaining.
As pointed out by Bleeding Green Nation, the Eagles could offer extensions to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Jeremy Maclin or sit on the extra money for now.
