For the second time in the preseason the Philadelphia Eagles will take the field in preparation for the 2012 NFL regular season as they travel to the New England Patriots Monday for a primetime contest (8 p.m. ET on ESPN) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
The Eagles are coming off a 24-23 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday, and are expecting this game against the Patriots to be a dress rehearsal for the regular season opener, Sept. 9 at the Cleveland Browns.
Philadelphia will be without Mike Kafka (hand), Jason Babin (calf), Riley Cooper (collarbone) and Casey Matthews (ankle), but otherwise the Eagles enter the contest healthy and the starters should play three quarters.
"You want to sharpen yourself up from the last game is what you want to do," said head coach Andy Reid. "We understand we're still in the preseason, but you want to play good football and we have an opportunity to play a good football team. So, I think if you talk to both coaches, we'd probably tell you the same thing; that we want to play better than we did last week and improve and, at the same time, get the young guys in and that second group in for the latter part of the game."
