Andy Reid eliminated any doubt about Michael Vick's status with the Philadelphia Eagles yet again on Wednesday when he said, "Michael is our starting quarterback" during his press conference. Reid was clarifying Vick's position due to an misinterpreted statement the coach made on Monday.
On Monday, Reid gave what came across as a tepid endorsement of Vick:
"Right now we're with Michael," said Reid. "That's what we're doing. We'll evaluate it as we go."
Later on Monday night, Reid gave his full support to Vick during his radio show, saying, "Michael Vick is our QB, period." Reid echoed those words on Wednesday to avoid any sort of quarterback controversy in Philadelphia. Reid also spoke to Vick following his original statement on Monday. Vick did not seem concerned with Reid's initial statement:
"We talked about it. We spoke about it but it wasn't anything serious. We're in a position where we have to look forward to this week."
Reid, Vick and the Eagles will host the New York Giants on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
