Most mock drafts have Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles addressing the offense, which makes some sense. However, SB Nation's newest mock draft has the Eagles going with defense, and picking up a familiar face in Oregon defensive end Dion Jordan.
Just about everyone has slotted an offensive tackle to the Eagles. We're as guilty of it as anyone. But what if the training staff is adamant that Jason Peters will be back healthy? If he is, does a team take a right tackle in the top five? It's unlikely. Instead, look for Chip Kelly to make do with the pieces he has on offense and look for a difference maker on defense. Kelly is fully aware of Jordan's athleticism, and knows how to properly use him in the team's new 3-4.
Jordan may be the most athletic pass rusher available in this draft, so Kelly's familiarity with him may simply be the cherry on top. Whether that's enough to get them to pass on offensive tackle Luke Joeckel, assuming he's still on the board at fourth overall, is another matter. Either way, the Eagles have multiple needs that they could address with their first pick, so it's tough to go wrong.
For more information on Jordan, check out his SB Nation scouting report. He finished the 2012 season with the Ducks with 44 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss and five sacks.
