Flyers Sign WHL's Top Scoring Defenseman Brandon Manning

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed a three year deal with the top scoring defenseman in the WHL, Brandon Manning, who currently plays for the Chilliwack Bruins. Manning, who is the captain for the Bruins, will remain with the team through the end of the season. The defenseman, who had previously turned down a contract offer from the New York Rangers, said the Flyers interest in him was exciting.

"It's an exciting time for me and my family," Manning told the Times Wednesday. "It's something I've always dreamed of. I don't think it's really hit me yet. They were serious about getting things done and showed a lot of interest in me and that meant a lot. After their first offer we talked with a couple other teams, and looking at Philly's team and the organization they have made it an easy decision."
