The Flyers have announced that Michael Leighton will be making his first start of the season tonight against the LA Kings as the team tries to avoid a three game losing streak. Leighton has spent the entire season so far injured and somewhat caught up in the Paul Holmgren's roster juggling.
↵As Broad Street Hockey points out, tonight could begin to decide what the Flyers will do with their goaltending position for the rest of the year. They almost certainly aren't going to carry three goaltenders, so if Michael Leighton plays well he could cement himself as one of the teams' top two keepers. Given what he's being paid this year, that seems likely... That would mean that either Brian Boucher or Sergei Bobrovsky would be sent down to the Phantoms (or in Boucher's case possibly traded).
