Flyers Vs. Stars: Philadelphia Leads 2-1 On Claude Giroux Goal And Assist After One Period

The Philadelphia Flyers took a 2-1 lead over the Dallas Stars into the locker room after the first period. The Flyers got two points from center Claude Giroux, who returned to action tonight after missing his last four games.

The Philadelphia Flyers lead the Dallas Stars by a score of 2-1 after the first period. The Flyers are looking to get back in the win column after a two-game skid.

Dallas struck first with a goal in the first minute of play. Claude Giroux tied the score at the 8:30 mark in the first period with an even strength goal, assisted by Jaromir Jagr and Scott Hartnell. Giroux and Kimmo Timonen set up a Wayne Simmons power play goal a few minutes later to put the Flyers on top in the first period.

Giroux is making his return to the ice tonight after suffering a concussion on Dec. 10 against Tampa Bay. The Flyers' center took a knee in the back of the head in a collision with teammate Wayne Simmonds in that game. He missed Philadelphia's last four games, in which the Flyers posted a 202 record.
