The Philadelphia Flyers lead the Dallas Stars by a score of 2-1 after the first period. The Flyers are looking to get back in the win column after a two-game skid.
Dallas struck first with a goal in the first minute of play. Claude Giroux tied the score at the 8:30 mark in the first period with an even strength goal, assisted by Jaromir Jagr and Scott Hartnell. Giroux and Kimmo Timonen set up a Wayne Simmons power play goal a few minutes later to put the Flyers on top in the first period.
Giroux is making his return to the ice tonight after suffering a concussion on Dec. 10 against Tampa Bay. The Flyers' center took a knee in the back of the head in a collision with teammate Wayne Simmonds in that game. He missed Philadelphia's last four games, in which the Flyers posted a 202 record.
