Flyers Vs. Stars: Philadelphia Builds 3-1 Lead After Two Periods

The Philadelphia Flyers added to their lead over the Dallas Stars in the second period of tonight’s game in Dallas. Jaromir Jagr’s 11th goal of the season gave the Flyers a 3-1 early in the second period of play.

Jagr scored on a power play, set up by Claude Giroux and Kimmo Timonen at the eight minute mark in the second period. That was the second time the Flyers used the man advantage to their favor. Wayne Simmonds scored a power play goal in the first period.

Giroux picked his second assist and third point of the night. This is his first game back from a concussion suffered earlier this month.

The chippy play in the first period escalated in the second. Referees handed out 42 penalty minutes all together in the second frame. Tom Sestito drew a 10 minute misconduct penalty. Adam Burish and Brenden Morrow picked up 10 minute misconduct penalties for the Stars.
